Podcast: Her Process with Jo Bozarth: Stephanie Thorpe – Actor, Producer
Tune in for my chat with the lovely Jo Bozarth of Her Process!
“This week’s chat is with actor/producer, Stephanie Thorpe. Stephanie knew that she wanted to act, write, and produce for as long as she can remember. Her love of creating characters and telling stories led her to act and produce on stage and on the screen. By remaining true to herself, and the eight year old Lord of The Rings and Dune reading girl that she was, Stephanie has been able to combine her passion for sci-fi and fantasy along with her love of acting and production, to create quite a stir in the new media community, and beyond. She has performed in over a dozen of Shakespeare’s plays, has created over 150 episodes of original narrative content for the web, and has been a panelist/guest speaker more than 25 times at various conventions. If you ask me, that’s a well rounded individual!
In this episode, Stephanie gives valuable audition tips, speaking as someone who’s been on both sides of the auditioning process. She talks about the importance of social media for today’s artists. We go back to her biggest influences in childhood and see how they’ve carried through today to land her as an influencer in both the geek and new media communities, by combining everything she loves.”
How Paris is Celebrating Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Pics)
In case there was still any debate, Star Wars is a cultural phenomenon spanning our globe. Last month I was in Paris, and got to witness firsthand another country’s unbridled enthusiasm leading up to the opening of “Le Reveil de la Force” (The Force Awakens).
Star Wars was EVERYWHERE!
From department store window displays at the historic Haussmann Galeries Lafayette, to disposable water bottles, and there was even a Leia whose attire and hair was sculpted entirely out of chocolate at the 2015 Salon du Chocolat (imagine San Diego Comic Con, but for Chocolatiers. Yum.)
Stephanie Thorpe Returns to San Diego’s Comic-Con for Hit Panel
Join me at SDCC 2015 for “The Most Dangerous Women at Comic-Con: The Good, the Bad, and the Deadly”!

We can all name a favorite villain or two— the Joker, Darth Vader, or Loki. But how many of your favorite bad guys are actually bad girls? Here to discuss the best and baddest of the lady villains (and their lack of representation) is a panel of women equally dangerous in their own rights: Jenna Busch (founder of Legion of Leia, co-host of Most Craved), Susan Eisenberg (Justice League, Destiny), Jane Espenson (Once Upon a Time,Husbands), Jacqueline Goehner (costume designer, cosplayer), Katrina Hill (Action Movie Freak, The Walking Dead Psychology), Makayla Lynn (Legendary Digital Networks), Chase Masterson (The Flash, Star Trek: Deep Space 9), Dr. Janina Scarlet (Superhero Therapy, Star Wars Psychology), Stephanie Thorpe (The Ladies & The Gents, ElfQuest: A Fan Imagining), and Jessica Tseang (comics historian, founder of Little Geek Girls).
NYC Production & Post News: What’s a Good Way to End NAB 2015?
“This was my 25th NAB. With these many shows behind you, it’s hard to get over that seen this, done that feeling….Turns out that the International Academy of Web TV was having an awards show. All of these folks had been nominated for their Internet shows, in different categories such as Best Dramatic Series, Best Ensemble Performance, or Best Animated Series….I had stumbled across one of the real reasons why we – the reporters, the companies, the 100,000 some attendees – were there. NAB wasn’t just about the technology or business plans.
Nope. I started to think that the real reason we came out to this desert dog-and-pony madness was right in front of me. We were here to help honor creativity as exemplified by those in front of me.
Everyone in this room, it seemed, shared a palpable enthusiasm for the industry I had grown weary of.
So this is why I’ve posted these photos. It’s important to be reminded that no matter how much we might go on and on about technology and business deals in these pages, in the end we are all really concerned about serving creativity.”
