A growing icon in the New Media scene, Stephanie Thorpe is in demand as an expert panelist & speaker, a host and presenter, a writer & producer, content creator, actress and director. Born and raised in Vancouver, Canada, she studied at Oxford and received a Master’s Degree from the University of Toronto. The creator of 150+ episodes of original web content, Thorpe has reached a wide audience with online content views of over 1 million and 50+K followers on twitter. She has been a driving force as an actor and producer in numerous web projects including Whatta Lark! with MonkeyKingdom Productions, and Casting Doubt with producing partner Paula Rhodes.
In 2015 Thorpe appeared in two documentaries about geek culture, Everything Doesn’t Suck and Fanarchy, alongside Leonard Maltin, Denise Crosby, Richard Hatch, and many others. Fanarchy appeared on Epix, Netflix, HBO Canada, and at Fan Expo Canada’s GeekFest Film Festival and Halcon 2015.
She starred in the Parsec Award-winning GOLD spin-off Night of the Zombie King (GOLDTHESERIES.COM), for which she was nominated Best Supporting Actress by IndieIntertube & by the New York Television Festival, and in the Indie Soap Opera Award nominated series Pairings (PAIRINGSTHESERIES.COM). She was honored to be a presenter at the IAWTV Awards at CES in Vegas in 2014, where Pairings was nominated in 3 categories: Best Directing (Comedy), Best Performance in a Comedy & Best Ensemble Performance. Thorpe produced and starred in The Ladies & The Gents, which premiered to rave reviews and was showcased at the Big Screen Little Screen event held at SAG (THELADIESANDTHEGENTS.COM). The Ladies & The Gents was also nominated for an Indie Series Award. Thorpe produces & stars in new series, Slumber Con (SLUMBERCON.COM). Her series Shelf Life wrapped its 4th season with an award nom at the 1st Annual Geekie Awards, where she was an invited judge at the gala ceremony. Shelf Life is now available on DVD at (SHELFLIFESERIES.COM) and streams on (STAREABLE.COM). She starred in the critically acclaimed After Judgment, Asylum, Babelgum’s Hurtling Through Space, Tyler Mane’s The Mane Show, and garnered Best Actress in a Drama at the NYFilmFest. Recent guest spots include appearances on the cooking shows Eat.Taste.Live and Sci-Fine Dining.
Thorpe hit the front page of Variety in 2012 with producing partner Paula Rhodes when they acquired the film/TV rights to the ElfQuest franchise. They first gained attention for their award-winning cyber-phenom, ElfQuest: A Fan Imagining (ELFQUESTFANTRAILER.COM), a short live-action production which has gained over 500,000+ views since its debut, earning numerous awards and accolades from film festivals, conventions and the media with over 100 articles and interviews to date.
Up next, Stephanie has secured the rights to an epic biography of a nurse trapped behind enemy lines in WWI and will write the feature film. She is developing a new international lifestyle series, Fashion, Food & Fandom, with Ultimatum Entertainment, and continues to consult on Sci-Fi/Fantasy projects, including the Werewolf Whisperer series.
Stephanie continues to speak at events around the country, appearing on panels at GeekGirlCon, Emerald City Comic Con, Comikaze, WonderCon and San Diego’s Comic-Con (where she humbly accepted the label as one of The Most Dangerous Women at Comic-Con). Thorpe has been nominated twice to the Board of Directors for IAWTV, hosted 4 events for the non-profit organization Celebrate the Web, is a founding member of The League of Extraordinary Ladies, and a member of the Geena Davis Institute.
